Access is granted by application only. Every request is reviewed individually. No self-service signups, no free access, no public API. Once approved, your institution gets an issued key and 24/7 dashboard access within your tier’s caps.
How access works
Application + review + dashboard access
No public API, no self-service signup, no free tier. Every researcher, institution, vet school, agency, and pharmaceutical company goes through the same individually-reviewed application process before any data leaves our servers. Once approved, your institution gets an issued API key and 24/7 access to a query dashboard scoped to what you’re approved for — within the per-query and monthly-query caps your tier allows.
Apply
Submit the application form with your institution, research question, IRB approval status, and which data categories you need.
Review
We review every request individually — research purpose, institutional credentials, data-handling controls. Not every request is approved.
DUA + invoice
On approval you sign a Data Use Agreement and we invoice you (ACH/wire transfer preferred; credit card under $10K via Helcim).
Key issued
Once payment clears, your institution receives an AL- prefixed API key. The key is scoped to your approved species, data categories, per-query cap, and monthly query quota.
Query the dashboard
Sign in to the institution dashboard at /research/portal with your key. Run queries, export JSON or CSV, watch your usage gauge in real time. Queries automatically stop when you hit your monthly cap.

24+ categories of anonymized clinical data
Tell us which categories your research needs in your access request. We can deliver a single category, a multi-category panel, or a longitudinal slice across all of them. All deliveries enforce K-anonymity, opt-in consent, and provenance tagging (vet vs owner vs facility) so researchers can filter to the cohort they need.
Crowdsourced reference intervals per species × analyte.
The only veterinary dataset of its kind — built from real-world AniLedger blood work submissions with explicit opt-in consent. Validated status assigned at n≥40 (ISO 15189 / CLSI VET09 methodology). Contributing practices may opt into attribution and appear in the annual published reference-range report. Delivered as median + n + status, full 95% reference interval (p2.5-p97.5) + IQR + contributor counts, or as a bulk CSV snapshot depending on the access level negotiated in your DUA.
All dates reduced to year + quarter only. All animal IDs replaced with random codes (ANIMAL-00001). No names, addresses, or contact info ever included.
Privacy & ethics
Built on consent. Protected by design.
Explicit Opt-In
Only data from users who actively opt into the research program is ever included. No default inclusion.
Full Anonymization
Names, IDs, addresses, and precise dates are stripped server-side before any data leaves the platform. ANIMAL-00001 codes replace all real IDs.
DUA Required
Every approved institution signs a Data Use Agreement before any data is delivered. We maintain records of all access grants and the purpose stated in each application.
Scoped Delivery
Each delivery is limited to the species, data categories, and study window described in the signed DUA. Datasets are not reusable for unrelated research without a new application.
Full Audit Trail
Every delivery is logged — recipient, date, scope, file hash. Available to your IRB on request.
No Re-identification
K-anonymity enforced — minimum 5 animals per species/condition cell. Cells with fewer than 5 unique animals are suppressed from the export.

Tiered pricing, individually negotiated
All access requires a signed Data Use Agreement and paid invoice before delivery. There is no free tier. Final price is set during the review process based on the data categories, study scope, and term you request.
